Military and Family Life Consultants

Military and Family Life Consultants ( MFLCs) provide a broad range of support to military children and youth and to the family members and adults who support them. For example, they:

  • Provide direct interventions to assist with strengthening communication, coping skills and setting boundaries.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational groups
  • Provide short-term, non-medical problem solving support.
  • Are available to staff and parents to discuss interactions with children and other concerns.

Services are private with the exception of duty-to warn situations.

Group sessions, educational presentations and individual meetings can be arranged. Topics include:

  • School adjustment
  • Deployment and separation
  • Reunion adjustment
  • Sibling and parent-child communication
  • Behavioral concerns
  • Fear, grief and loss
  • Daily life issues.

After-hour and weekend appointment are available

MFLC’s are…

  •   Masters and PhD level providers who specialize in child and youth behavioral issues.
  •   Available at no cost to assist children and youth, parents, family members and staff.
  •   Dedicated to augmenting existing military support services.
